Beyond its role as a powerhouse stadium, Lumen Field also places a big emphasis on training and empowering its team of employees. Recognizing that every staff member plays a vital role in shaping the fan experience, the stadium asked me to create a series of fun and engaging animations for onboarding new employees. From ticketing personnel to ushers, from concession staff to security personnel, every employee at Lumen Field undergoes training that emphasizes customer service, effective communication, and problem-solving.
Developing a script for animation calls for a certain level of finesse. Part of it is was making sure the message was clearly communicated, and the other part was crafting a tone that was friendly, informal and allowed for fun references tailored to the stadium and its devoted fans. I drafted the first script and worked closely with the client to guarantee the script’s accuracy in portraying Lumen Field’s training procedures and core values.
The brightly colored characters were intentionally designed to be inclusive and not race-specific, reflecting a diverse and multicultural approach. Each character exudes a unique personality, brought to life through their quirky and silly traits.
I storyboarded with key moments with illustrations and descriptions. Each frame depicted an important scene and its action. Storyboarding helped the client and I identify any potential issues or challenges early on, allowing me to make adjustments and refinements before investing significant time and resources into the animation itself.
